Saturday saw another great night at Hollywood Boogie. thanks to all the tremendous dancers that came. Pat Da Kat was joined on the decks by Rob Be Bop and the floor was busy all night with dancers enjoying the Royston Ballroom’s sprung wooden dance floor, surely one of the best swing dancing venues in London. Our regular crowd were joined by plenty of new dancers including those from the West Dulwich and Crystal Palace Swing Patrol groups and the amazing Roger Chin, more often seen gracing the floor at Modern Jive and Blues events . We love the mix of people that turn up at our events.
With that in mind, next month we are collaborating with Back2Blues to bring you a workshop before our usual social dance. This will be ideal for any Modern Jive and Blues dancers who want to learn how to swing dance. This will add to your repertoire and help you stand out from the crowd when competing or just give you more confidence to dance when the music swings.
The workshop will have two elements. The first part will be ideal not only for Modern Jivers who want to learn to Swing Dance but also for those who have never danced before. The second part will build on developing your swing dancing and incorporating swing footwork into moves which are also seen in Modern Jive.
The workshop will be taught by Angela Stewart Armstrong who has a wealth of experience in dancing, competing and teaching swing dancing.
The workshop will start at 5.30pm and cost £20 including entrance to the Hollywood Boogie club night straight after the classes.
Please check out the Facebook event page for further details here
For those not attending the class the normal admission to Hollywood Boogie of only £8 still applies. We hope to see you there so put March 5th in your diary now.
